Question Base/stand question

My new Asus PG279QZ arrived yesterday. It seems I got a decent one as the picture looks good. The only thing I don't care for is the stand which is putting the screen at least a couple inches closer to me than my Dell, which sat back more toward the wall.

IIRC the back of this thing has Vesa standard mounting, so couldn't I get a different base for it? I don't really want to wall mount it, but something like this seems like it would be smaller if it fits.

If you cross reference the pics with the bundled stand and the link you've provided, you'll see you're going to end up having the same distance from eyes/face. I'd suggest looking into desk mounted monitor arm/stand. The only thing is, they are more expensive than what you've linked.

Thanks that might be an option too, although this desk is pretty close to the wall so I'm not sure how much room the arm would have
