Basic Sound Card

I need a very basic sound card with a graphic equalizer. Because of what I do, it CANNOT HAVE all that surround, bass, dolby, etc., etc. The realtek on the MB is not enough. I must have graphic equalizer.

Any suggestions on a basic sound card good enough to understand heavily accented dictation through lots of hiss and hum?

I only need the graphic equalizer.

The graphic equalizer found on the onboard Equalizer should do the trick. Might I ask what your full system's specs are inclusive of OS and connected peripherals+audio equipment? You may also want to read through this thread on sevenforums.

When looking into cheap sound cards, you won't get a GUI to control your output levels and it'll most often be worse than your onboard(depending on your motherboard). Most of the sound cards that are pricier have gimmicks attached to them to justify the increased prices so that should be something to think about. Is it also possible to disclose what you do that entitles you to ask for such a solution? It seems to me like you need a sound mixer/control panel.

For the sake of relevance, we would need a budget and what you're working with currently to suggest something worthwhile.
