Hi,
I have not written a batch file in over 15 years. I need to run one to 150 windows 7 Ent stations on a domain that will change the computer name from "2358-Servicetag".ourdoman.com to "2358-last three of the IP address" I tried the Netdom command and I'm not successful at all.
Thanks

Right.
Rather than trying to put intelligence into the computer name, do it in a database.
IP address, PC name, location.

That's what I would do, anyway.

But, if it must be done as you request, the powershell links above will do the trick.

And what happens when the IP changes if the switch or DHCP gets reset? Or PC is moved? Don't think I have seen a naming convention that uses an IP address before.
