Batch file won't work

Hello, hope you're having a day better than mine

So, i'm trying to make a minecraft server which requires java. It also requires a batch folder. However, everytime I run the command (java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar nogui), the command window flashes very quickly and disappears. I am using notepad for the command and copying and pasting the command. I am using firefox 51 instead of edge because edge doesn't support java. The main problem is the batch file won't create any other files.

A single command is not a batch,change your title to "trying to run minecraft server" or something similar so that people familiar with minecraft look at it.
