BATT. DEAD?

IS MY BATT dead? computer will not power on w/pwr supp attached. whenn I un-plug my pwr supp. indidcator lights go out. ( which lead me to believe my batt. dided)

Is this a laptop? Take out the battery, does it turn on then? If not, it's either a bad power supply, motherboard power connector or circuitry.
