Battery draining too quickly

Hello my laptop is a HP Pavilion 15000. I bought it brand new from Currys PC world less than a week ago and just recently over the past few days the battery has been draining extremely quickly (50%) within an hour) and the battery life is supposedly 10 hours. What should I do HP support says there is nothing new and all my devices have been updated.

Are there any processes (task manager) causing cpu/gpu/HDD to be running constantly at a high %?

I would also report the problem to Curry’s in writing ASAP as it may help should you need to return the laptop as faulty.

Go look and see what you are allowing to run as a background process as well as apps running in the background. Turn off anything you don't have to keep on. Turn your screen brightness down as often that is a big cause. If you are doing anything intensive where you hear fans kicking up, you should probably be plugged in anyway.
Try running the energy saver settings.

if you cannot get any help from HP (not surprising) you should look at returning the laptop
