Battery Life Acer

I have bought an Acer Aspire E15 laptop few months back]
it has a 6 cell battery with 5th gen i5 processor, nvidia 820m gpu and 1tb hdd
when i use my laptop normally (watching movies and surfing internet ) battery meter says 8-9 hours of life and yes it holds for 8-9 hours
But when i leave my computer untouched or start a torrent in u torrent and leave it
battery drastically reduced to 2:30 or 3 hours and its drains within 2-3 hours
I am wondering what is happening here
Please help me

Battery life varies depending on what you do. What is "put my computer on ideal"? I think you used the wrong word there.

computer on ideal means either i leave it with no program running or just u torrent

Seems like the system is doing a reverse of what it should, unless you have a program that runs in the background that does work when you are not working on something actively. Did this happen right from the box or after you installed things on it? You may want to check with Acer support although they may very well tell you to set the laptop to a clean factory image and test it that way first.
