Battery status icon not displaying in taskbar

how can i pin battery status to my laptop's task bar

Got to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons

Look for "Power" and select the option to show icon and notifications.

I have the same problem and I did what you said to do, kind of. I see it, but I can't select it in any way or form.
