Hey everyone

I have a problem with BF1. The fps drops from 60 to low 40's, mid 30's. Doesn't matter which settings or res. MSI Afterburner overlay shows 100% cpu usage and gpu usage between 40-80% .
I know this indicates a cpu bottleneck but a R3 1200 shouldn't be bottlenecking to this extent since there are plenty of youtube videos showing this exact setup playing BF1 without any problems.
My pc:
Ryzen 3 1200 @3.9Ghz
GTX 1050 TI
8GB RAM 2400MHZ

You've answered your own question. Yes, in that game the CPU is the bottleneck. 4 cores just doesn't cut that game even at 1080p. Once the CPU gets maxed you start to get the FPS drops.

BF1 is one of the few games that makes more use of cores/threads (apart from some specific ones, and newer AAA games). So with that said, there will be plenty of games where it will work just fine.

Also keep in mind, if you are gaming at 1080p 60hz, the 1050ti falls a little short. It's not bad at that res, but you do have to dial back settings to keep a steady 60hz/fps. With a CPU that just cuts it for the card and res, you will just experience it more and more. Despite the 3.9 OC. Core speed won't make up for the bottleneck. It's more cores/threads...

Are there other processes running in the background that are eating up CPU resources? Are you streaming also?

Does the FPS drops for a second when you are in a busy map or an intense firefight or it happens all the time?
If it just drops on those circumstances then is normal.

edit: Just noticed also you have 8gb of system ram. At 1080p BF1 will use upward of 9gbs (map depending), so it's very possible thats your issue with that game. Getting another 8gb (and by that I mean selling your current ram to offset the cost of getting a 2 x 8gb kit, and faster ram like 2933+), will help with more FPS from the 1050ti. Ryzen loves faster ram, and may solve your problem short term.
