When we play in campaign mode, Win XP will stop after we have played
only one session, causing the computer to reboot. Win Xp then
complains about problems with the sound card.

My PC hardware exceeds all minimum specs in the documentation. As
well a microsoft web site that I used to check my hardware for
compatibiltiy with this game confirms this.

I have downloaded the v 1.61 update and gotten the same result.

Does anyone have experience with this problem?

Can you suggest a fix?

If you don't bring up your system specs? You're asking people to pull
buggers out of their noses and snip them at you. It's like going to the
doctor saying "Doc, I don't feel well, do you have a fix?"

The very first thing anyone is going to tell you to do is upgrade your sound
card, video card and other system drivers. Without doing that, noone will
be able to help you much further..

sounds like your BIOS is doing a 'reboot on error'
check the BIOS error settings. it should be on the main drives screen.
if it does this you dont get a chance to see what BF1942 and XP are up
to regarding error messages.
