Battlefield 3-4 recent FPS lag spikes, and freezing. (I WILL CHOOSE a best answer)

I haven't played BF in about 2 months. I recently decided I was going to play some again. I had to update the game and my GPU drivers to the current version. Now, I am getting a lower overall FPS, and tons of lag spikes, on all settings. These lag spikes cause me to die in the game, like crashing a heli. I have never had this issue before, as my computer can handle the game fine.

I had a CPU monitor next to my screen, while playing bf4. Each time I would get a lag spike, the CPU would go down from 80-90% to 30-40% then right back up.

I rolled back my GPU drivers to Catalyst 14.4 from 14.9, that didn't help. I've used Advance System Care 7 to fix up my computer, didn't fix the lag spikes, and freezing. I tried to fix the game through Origin, and that didn't help. I use to be able to run BF4 on ultra (no AA) with a steady 40 fps, with NO lag spikes, at all. Now, its just horrible, its like not even playable. Every 10-20 seconds, I will get a 1-2 second long freeze. Sometimes, the game just freezes all together, and then I will be kicked from the game. Not sure if that has to do with internet or not. I usually get 60-75 ping when I'm playing, and when the spikes hit, my ping doesn't change.

Please help. This is annoying me to death.

Solution
you could be suffering from the "Memory Leak" while playing try opening task manager and open the Resource monitor and check your memory usage. I had that problem and I ended up fixing it with Direct X update. I also had 8 gigs of RAM but upgraded to 4x4 Gig. No problems now.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention that. I did try to repair the game, and it didn't help.

My memory seems to be doing ok. It runs at about 70% while playing BF3/4. So I don't think that's the issue. I tried updating punkbuster too, and that didn't help. Whats weird about this problem, is that this is happening with BF3 and BF4, and its a recent problem. And when it freezes, so does the FPS counter built into BF4, so its not an FPS issue, its an freezing issue. I also checked my CPU temperature, and its running at about 52C, which isn't bad.

I'm going to try the DirectX update that you were talking about.

Well those numbers seem perfectly normal. Hope the Direct X update does something for you. I've been scouring threads on the BF4 forum and it seems others have similar problems. Another thing is look though some of those threads. Or even ask on there too if you havn't done so

Through one of the threads, I found that if you disable the in-game origin, it will fix the freezing. And I tried it, and it WORKED! This is a serious problem EA should fix right away.

Thanks Memhorder, for your help, and being the only person to actually answer my post.

hmm i had massive lag spikes and i was reading youtube comments and one guy said if u go to origin your game right click and disable origin in game.. that help me for lag spikes but its sometimes crashes and says game is no responding...
