hi I can see your thinking about what to get for computer gaming minimum you need is 4gb of ram personnally i would get 6gb also pick something like 2 or 4 gb for a graphics card preferabally nvidia or radeon they make hi spec gcards also think about hard drvie space what kind of monitor your using how the light in the room is and also COOLING!!!! everyone forgets about cooling I know i've built many gaming computers and I'm 16 years old I am running on a AMD processor and 2gb of graphics i have 1 terabyte of hard drive and a philips monitor I play games occasionally but not as much mainly on Playstation 3 and xbox 360's I know alot about computers and work with them on a daily basis trust me Cooling is important high-spec graphic cards have fans on them..........................Peace out

Definitely get an HD 6870 instead of a GTX 560. It's substantially more powerful, and you can buy it with 2 GB of Vram, which is really necessary if you even plan on cross firing for BF3 (maybe not so much at your res, but if you ever move to 1080p). If you need to stay Nvidia, get a 560 Ti, but not a 560, they're really poor value. Also get a new CPU, a quad core. That or overclock the hell out of your current one because it's going to be a bottleneck, especially at your resolution. Don't worry about cooling, any of the cards you buy will run plenty cool.

Have both amd and nvidia cards running bf3. Go amd. Nvidia's drivers are a bit whacky with the game. Just look and see how many posts on this site reference nvidia cards freezing during game. My gtx 470 was freezing every ten minutes of play, my hd 5870s crossfire run perfect. I had to roll back to nvidia's original beta drive 285.38 for bf3 and can play for about an hour before freezing. Also check Nvidia's website, tons of posts complaining about it. Both good companies, but in bf3s case save yourself the headache.

if you want to run bf3 at that resolution, a 6850 will be perfect. it only costs 150, so youll have 40 dollars more to spend on a cpu. Battlefield 3 is one of the few games out there that actually utilizes four cores, so i would strongly recommend you use the money you saved to get this cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103996
Its no i7, but you cant go wrong paying 110 for a quad core with those clock rates and overclocking potential.

that cpu doesnt include a heatsink, so he would have to buy an aftermarket cooler just to use it
