Sooo, I realized that Battlefield 3 is going to be half the game it could be if I played it on my xbox, so it's time to splurge and get a PC!

So, I built this, anyone have any objections? Comes in right under my $2000 budget, so hopefully this thing will take care of BF3 without any problems.

My big question is whether the 3-way SLI mobo will still work with 2 cards, otherwise I'll have to get 3 cheaper cards to stay under 2k.

Any advice or guidance is great, I've still got some time before the 25 october release date.

Get the Intel i-5 2500K and a socket 1155 mobo. 8GB of RAM. Two HD 6870 can play any game. What site is that?

agree with mosox but you can stick with your 560's or sub a pair of gtx580's if you want. And dont forget you want 64 bit Win7

and to answer your question, yes the 3way board will run 2way sli just fine.

On that kind of budget you ought to fit 2x GTX 580 in there, or at least 6970s.

Just fyi, it's been said that the gaming PC's used at Gamescom contained SLI GTX 580s and i5-2500ks (or was it 2600ks?) and that was for BF3 alpha.

And echoing what others said, at this point, you should really look for an i5-2500k and a Z68 (or p68) motherboard. Best performance per $.

A reminder guys. $2000 for us will let us build a great system with dual GTX580s. But it looks like he is buying this from someone. Their markup probably prohibits this. If the OP wants to spend his money buying the parts and assembling it himself he could get all that. Something he should consider. Building a computer isn't hard. More so when you have a forum like this and Youtube videos to watch.
