battlefield 4 fx 8350 vs i7 4770k

Heres the deal, i have an fx 6300 cpu and want to upgrade. My 6300 wont handle a second 680 in sli, i already have an am3+ mobo, should i get the 8350 and second 680 or i7 4770k with mobo and no second 680. Which will battlefield 4 benefit from most? I heard bf4was built on fx 8350 systems.

Well I'm pretty sure the 6300 OC can handle two 680's, but you can go 8350+680.
I haven't played BF4 since the Beta-but it was CPU heavy regardless-~60% usage. Games tend to have a much greater boost from GPU's.

There are ways of finding out if your CPU is the bottleneck though, Monitoring it's usage by logging or using a program like Performance Monitor which comes with windows 7 and 8. Or OpenHardwareMonitor.
If you just need a better GPU-then you can save money. (Also how much RAM do you have and at what speed-benchmarks show 1600->2400 RAM boost FPS by ~20FPS-[AMD is limited to 1866 or 2400 if you overclock well])

Ah I see it's in your Signature. You have 8GB, are you running out of memory from open programs? (I mean with a 660ti I was running the beta at >40FPS)

And from not getting a 8350-you can save ~190. So you can through a custom loop or AIO(x60 or H100i) or Phanteks/Noctua or just better cooling into your system.

I do suggest though NOT buying another 680... Just save that money and buy yourself a new high end GPU in half a year or so.

Why a no brainer for a 2 core addition running the same architecture? The benefits-none, if the CPU is not holding him back, and all he does is game-there is no real benefit.YET.

Case in point - is I7 better? Yes. Is it enough difference to toss extra 250$ towards it in his case? Hell no!

8350 is a much cheaper solution for gaming and given its resemblance to the console architectures should prove adequate for the next generation. You also get to keep your motherboard for when steamroller gets released within the next year.

I went with the 4770k because intel controllers and chipsets tend to have higher performance in RAID than equivalents on AMD boards, for gaming though the advantage over an 8350 is pretty minor.

I didn't mention the i7...
And I didn't tell him to get it yet, but regardless-he can get a 680 used for around 300. Or he can wait till cyber monday for a kick-ass deal. It may be older, but it is still really good. Getting a new card will boost his FPS ~10, getting another card for SLI would add ~30+ for the same price.

With all that in mind and considering that a single GTX680 is perfectly fine as it is in BF4, the most logical route for him will be just sticking FX-8350 in his rig and be done with it for now. This way is especially making sense since unlike in GPU case, there won't be any interesting high end releases in the next half a year.

Have you tried overclocking your 6300? You could get a good cooler and overclock it to 4.3 to 4.5 x6 pretty easily.

Also, I was wondering why you think you need a second 680 in the first place? What monitor are you using?

So in short without me continuing my blabbering, no upgrade required yet, wait for better deals.

In utra settings im getting 50 fps and huge drops to around 35. I was hoping an 8350 would help with keeping a constant 60 with vsync on in 1080p. My mobo is MSI 970A G46 and wont let me OC past 3.9ghz. Even when i was able to go over that to 4.377ghz it was still bottlenecking my 680.

I doubt it's a CPU bottleneck. It's probably your RAM. You are probably running out of RAM during gameplay or just have bad RAM.

No it won't - 8350 will give you 6-9 FPS more on average tops with that setup...

According to who?
And if you really want it, then get the CPU-you seem very keen on getting it. Not my money-but you don't need to upgrade-if you want to-look at a R9 290x before switching chips and motherboards and SLI'ing that GPU.
Which an 8350 can xfire without problems.

I'm running an 8350 + 280x in BF4 and get an average fps of 64. My friend has the 4770k and 770 and he gets an average of 69 fps. The difference (in our case) doesn't justify the extra cost.

Well BF4 also likes faster RAM, what RAM and what frequencies are you guys using?
But 5 FPS boost from a $140 plus motherboard, not worth it. (And if you overclock your 8350-I'm sure you'll get more) (A 280x is >770-especially if you overclock that as well)

you are confusing what i said to other people and their rigs.

I asked you to log your CPU usage-and posted a screenshot of it of course.
And while playing-use task manager to see your RAM usage when you start lagging to make sure you are not running out of RAM.

Also how much vRAM does your GPU have?
