CPU: i5-4690K @3.50GHz (Stock cooler)
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII
Mem: 16GBs Ripjaws 1600Mhz DDR3
GPU : Gigabyte gtx 970
PSU: Corsair CX750M
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro 128GB (OS/Steam)
Seagate SSHD 2TB (Games)
Hitachi HDD 1TB (Backup/ Videos)
Case: NZXT H440 (Stock fans)

Before I upgraded to my new Samsung 850 Pro, Battlefield Hardline and 4 both ran like a dream. When I try to play either game I get huge hiccups of 3-4 seconds where the audio still plays but the image is frozen. I haven't noticed any problems in any other games and am currently playing through Far Cry 4 on ultra settings flawlessly. I had both Battlefield games on my secondary drive but decided to move hardline over to my SSD (where Far Cry is installed) to see if maybe it was my hard drive but I still have the problem. Both Battlefield games ran flawlessly before I upgraded to my SSD and reinstalled windows. The only thing that I have come up with is that I could need a bigger PSU but I don't really see how the SSD could put it over it's limit. I did try to unplug my Hitachi drive which is just kind of sitting in there (to conserve power) but that made no difference. I would also like to note that all 3 drives are on the same line of cabling coming from the PSU. I have taken videos with Shadowplay if seeing them would help anyone (both multiplayer and campaign). Also before anyone asks, I still have the problem when Shadowplay is completely turned off. I really hope to fix this problem so I don't have a $100+ worth of content that I can't even touch.

I have done everything in steps 1 and 3 and neither made a difference. I have also rerun my dxsetup to see if that would help. I have tried running the game with the overclocked settings on my GPU as well as the stock settings. I have tried running both games on low setting. I have tried completely reinstalling both games. I have tried running them off of each of my 3 hard drives. I went 2 drivers back on my GPU and used the one that I was running the game flawlessly with before I put in my SSD. I uninstalled kaspersky to see if that was the problem. I put my AC in the window and kept my room a steady 68 degrees. I have tried running the game at 60hz instead of 144hz. Nothing has made a difference. I have searched and searched for an answer, I just want to play Battlefield! If anyone can help me I would be more thankful than you could ever imagine.

I really appreciate the input but it can't be that. All other games run flawlessly and I have had both Battlefields installed on all 3 of my disk drives with the same exact problem. Plus the 'older' 850s would be the EVO, not the Pro! Again, thank you for your input but I really don't think it has anything to do with the SSD itself.

Could you please press the console button and type in "perfoverlay.drawgraph 1" and "perfoverlay.drawfps 1" and record a video of this while it's happening? It should show me some more information of the cause, thanks :)

After you told me to do this I went in and had absolutely no problem playing the game. I played for a good 2-3 hours and decided to call it a night. This morning when I got on.... same thing again. I really really don't understand at this point. The only thing I could find for CPU spikes like this was Punkbuster so I did everything that the troubleshooting guide said to and nothing.

I've been getting the same thing, I was thinking my RAM is playing up (It's not 100% compatible). Could you see if the problem persists on 8GB and if it does try the other 8GB stick?

Hey man I finally figured mine out. It was a combination of PunkBuster and a feature of my motherboard called ROG game first. I ended up just completely uninstalling that and then I kept getting kicked by PB so I uninstalled and reinstalled that (took a few times to actually work but thank god it did). Hope this helps mate... no ram issues for me.

I'm glad you've sorted your issue out :)
I have underclocked my graphics card by 100Mhz core and 200Mhz Memory and I have had no spikes or crashes for 2 days, I think its the memory clock that has somehow degraded and become unstable at stock, I'll try putting the core back to 0 and see if the issue returns.
