Battlefield 4 Radeon 6870 at 1080p

Hi all,
I know the BF4 beta is not even a month away, but I would like to know sooner than later if I have to make any upgrades.

My question is would I be able to play Battlefield 4 on my current rig at 1080p on at least high. I currently play bf3 on high and get around 50-60 fps on 64 player matches.

My system specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
AMD Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB
8GB RAM

I have only put relevant information but if you need any more please ask.

BF4 Recommended Specs:

OS: Windows 8 64-Bit
Processor: AMD Six-Core CPU or Intel Quad-Core CPU
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics Card: AND Radeon 7870 or NvIDIA GeForce GT 660
Graphics Memory: 3 GB
Hard Drive: 30 GB

If you think the my specs are insufficient could you please recommend any upgrades I could make. I would overclock the Phenom if that may help, but if making GPU recommendations I would prefer non-crossfire ones as I have read there are still issues with them on certain games.

Budget wise I have been looking at the radeon 7870, 7950 at a real push, but I would prefer to stick with my current specs I that would work.

Looking at the minimum specs you will definitely be able to play the game but if you want to upgrade you GPU then the cheapest GPU i could find with enough VRAM was either a 7750 for £102 http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor-video-card-ax77504gbk3h

OK thanks for the info I have been looking for upgrades myself and the 7950 did come up. I know its impossible to know for sure but would you have any idea at what setting I could play at current specs should I be thinking low and medium or high and ultra?

Also do you have any idea why bf4 might need 3GB of VRAM, as I thought that was usually for multi-display setups?

assuming the recommended is for medium setting and 1080p which i believe they normally are then you will probably be able to run BF4 on low with some medium setting's. i believe that when they released the requirements the VRAM was needed for loading all the textures at the start of the games, other wise it would take some time to load in but i am not 100% sure.

Oh wow, ok then I will have to start some serious looking at upgrades, do you think my current system would be powerful enough if I just upgraded the GPU? Also that's interesting about the VRAM as bf3 works fine with only 1GB of VRAM on my current card, but it does seem to take its time loading the game, especially on large maps. I will wait until the beta before I make any definitive choices.

because AMD CPU's are not as powerful i think you may need to upgrade you CPU as well if you want to run on max settings
also i believe they have stated that BF4 will also optimize a minimum of 6 cores if you have that many of course

OK I just read a thread elsewhere that the radeon 7950 would be bottlenecked by the phenom, so I would have to upgrade that (possibly an fx-8320) Also with rumours of the 8000 series cards release just around the corner I may wait until then to upgrade.

i am also waiting out to see if they release new cards but if your sticking with amd get a FX8320 with a 990fx mobo and overclock and itll prob be better if not just as good as the FX8350

The FX-8320? That's the 2nd most powerful FX CPU I can't see why it wouldn't, I do fine with my phenom on 64 player matches
