Hello guys.

I am experiencing an issue with Battlefield 4. I just installed it on a fresh computer (it is a fresh Windows installation, with the necessary drivers) and while I am able to play for some time, it randomly freezes, or crashes. This happens randomly and I cannot figure out as to why it happens. I have followed all suggested tips to fix it, but nothing.

Rarely, it gives me a device related DirectX error.

My PC specifications are:

  • ■ Intel Core i7 4790K - Stock Clocks
    ■ NZXT X61 Liquid Cooler
    ■ 16 GB of RAM on XMP profile (2133 MHz)
    ■ ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 OC Edition (Running on stock clocks)
    ■ Corsair Force SSD @ 500 GB
    ■ Asus PG248Q Monitor with G-Sync

I've tried repairing the installation, reinstalling it completely, installing DirectX again from the __install folder of Battlefield and I also tried to play it while on clean boot. I followed most suggested tips I could find on the internet. I've also tried running it on my computer after formatting and installing only the graphics drivers. It still keeps freezing, sometimes just crashing, other times freezing my entire computer. I've verified that this is not a temperature issue. I believe it's an issue with DirectX or the latest NVidia drivers (Version 382.33) but I am not sure about it.

I have disabled in-game Origin overlay and its cloud services. Everything is run as administrator and I am running the x64 version. My Windows is Windows 10 Professional x64.

My Battlefield graphics settings are:

My DxDiag Information (Huge text):
Pastebin

My monitor is at 144 Hz, I've tried disabling G-Sync too.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I would be very thankful as I've been unable to play for the past week.

Thank you in advance!

Hello. I don't always get the DirectX error but when I get it, it's the exact same one as this:

I don't know which the previous working driver is since the last time I played Battlefield was with an AMD card.

That seems to be saying that BF4 sent bad code to the graphics driver. That seems odd, since that'd probably be a more widespread issue. Maybe try installing the next most recent driver you can find on nVidia's website?

I will try to do this and get back at you. To add something that might be useful, this is also happening on Star Wars Battlefront, which is also a Dice game.

It did not help at all. Both games are still freezing.

I've already done both. To be precise, I've already tried all common solutions (DDU, revert drivers etc). It just keeps freezing on any Frostbite engine game for some reason.

I have already done than, all stats look normal (temperatures, GPU utilization, CPU utilization and memory utilization). I'm starting to suspect it's an issue with the Frostbite engine or Windows image from Media Creation Tool is bugged.
