Battlefield 4 - VRAM usage @ 5760x1080

Hey there,

I recently got myself a second GTX 780 and turned all settings to ultra only to find out that I dip into the 30 FPS regularly.
GPU-Z shows that I seem to be hitting the VRAM wall. I know BF4 is demanding and all...but more than 3GB of VRAM? Damn!

So, just a quick question: What´s your VRAM usage at 5760x1080 (or whatever borderless resolution you use) with everything maxed out?

I haven't started BF4 yet and can't find anything to help with 5760x1080 but Guru3d done some testing up to UHD. I have included that graph if in case it help you.

It looks like MSAA has a big impact on the video memory. What MSAA setting are you using?

Everything on max.

I know MSAA has a big impact but still...3GB? Really?
I mean, if I have to turn down AA and ambient occlusion any way, I really don´t need a 2nd 780 for that.

I don't know why Nvidia didn't give the 780 4gb of memory.
They gave the Nvidia Titan 6gb of memory so it doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't put 4gb on the 780.

Exactly. Even more so for the 780 Ti. And even if the rumors are true and EVGA is going to release a 6GB 780 Ti, it´s still too late for me.

Though, I have been thinking if it wouldn´t be smarter to return my 2nd 780 (the one I bought last) and sell my first one as soon as R9 290s with custom coolers are available. And then maybe go crossfire.

The Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC with a custom cooler is available and in stock in my country.

I was going to suggest the AMD HD 7990 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card but i just looked at the prices and they have gone up MORE than £300 in less than 2 months 😱

Well, I doubt a 290 or 290x crossfire setup wouldn´t beat that.
