Is there anyone in this group that has been invited to beta test
Battlefield: Modern Combat??? I go the invite yesterday. Reply here
and maybe we can start a beta clan or just share notes on problems and
issues.

I am in, will have to get together on there when it gets out to us. I
don't play much online anymore...Beta tests are an exception though as
generally it is not as many 10yr olds and retards playing 😉

Well, who else would have access to the game before it is released? Other
than developers or media, of course...or maybe software pirates.

If they provide you with a photocopied instruction page with the beta, pick
a paragraph, sentence, and word as the "key." In order for people to join
your group, they must first provide you with that key word. Even developers
and media won't be able to get into your group that way.

Android you are a genius, thanks for the idea.

Yep, got accepted yesterday. Says the drop for the beta kit is ~3/25. The
screenshots look pretty cool, but its the type of game where the controls
and idiosyncrasies (realism vs. fantasy, real-life physics vs. arcadey-ness
(?)) will be the make or break components.

I'd be interested in setting up a clan/group, I always get tired of the 13
year olds who manage to get into these betas and act their age (read:
immature).

Well definitely will have a couple of decent folks that can play
together in it. You, me and Brenden. The other guy doing a google group
seems okay also.

I have seen some footage, check at gametrailers.com and it looks like it
might be pretty good. Only problem is what you mentioned, youngsters
playing and those that can't act their age. Likely what will keep me
away from the final version...or will after a short time.

I checked at the playstation.com site the other day, it looks...like
normal for betas, that this got pushed back a little bit. Think the new
date is April 1st to start seeing them show up. Might have that date
wrong off the top of my head. Sign in on the site and hit your beta
tester tab and look around in that info somewhere...

Cool, thanks massive. I checked the tab and saw the new drop date. UPS
knocked on my door around noon and low and behold there it was. A day
early even. What do you guys think so far? I think if you gave it
SOCOM's graphics it would be killer. Its fun so far, and I haven't seen
a whole lot of glitches. I just wish people would play it a little more
seriously. I mean, what's with all the team kills? I know some are
accidental, but not all of them.

I'm with you on the garbled mic issue, I couldn't play with it on
either. I know asking for SOCOM graphics is a bit much, maybe just a
hi-def option. I play on a big screen and the progressive scan option
makes a big difference. I have seen some spawn campers too, but that's
really just the nature of the beast. So far mine has run extremely
smooth also - good framerate, no magic warping players - just the
lock-ups and disconnects. I wish that it would show pings, maybe this
would help with the microphone issue. I know that on SOCOM 2, if I
could get connected to someone atleast in my state the microphone
worked great, if not, well some people could be understood and some
sounded like they were chanting satanic messages.

I took it off again tonight, it is terrible right now...rarely ever can
actually hear/understand anyone.

Graphically I am pretty happy with it, considering the size and scope of
the game it looks really good. Even better considering it being a PS2
version, and even better considering it is not even a beta version but
an alpha version of the game 😉

Yep, it is something you find in these types of games. It is something
that just turns me off about them, especially if it is REALLY bad or
rampant. Tonight it wasn't near as bad on the camper aspect, plus I had
a much better handle on things, maps/controls/etc..

Only locked up/crashed twice tonight in 3 hours of playing. Once while I
was playing and my friend said it crashed on him once...he kept playing
while I ran out to take care of something. If you played in a room with
me and I did something stupid, it was likely him playing at the time 😉

I hardly ever had mic issues with SOCOM or SOCOM 2, generally always
worked fine for me. Seemed if it was bad it was someone who actually had
a bad mic/headset. This game BF:MC is the worst I have seen mic wise, it
is basically unusable at this point. Wish they had more of the clan and
other types of features working at this point to try out and see how
some of that is going to go. So far I am beyond impressed with the game,
and it is very likely that I will end up getting this one and playing it
regularly.
