I recently purchased Star Wars Battlefront 2 for my PC and have been having problems with Frame rate drops and screen gitter constantly to the point of where the game is unplayable.

ive tried all the current drivers including the driver which supports the game to no avail.

I currently have:
AMD FX-4300
AMD R9 380 2gb
8GB Ram
HDD 1TB Sata 3

i can't Figure out if my CPU is not powerful enough or if my GPU is not powerful enough. i was considering purchasing a AMD FX-8350, Would this be a good move?

Your CPU is below the minimum requirements, with the FX 6350 being considered the minimum on the AMD side. Your GPU is also a bit outdated and has a low amount of VRAM by today's standards. Running the game on higher settings, especially with high resolution textures may be causing you to run out of VRAM and cause stutters. If you aren't running on low settings already, try reducing settings and see what kind of performance you get.

EA's Frostbite Engine does scale across lots of cores, so upgrading to an FX 8350 could help, but AM3+ is an extremely outdated platform, and the FX 8350 isn't even all that great by today's standards. The FX 8350 is also very power hungry and will throttle on lower end AM3+ boards with poor power delivery. You might be better off looking at a new build with a Ryzen chip instead.

Thanks, I was considering overhauling my system with a ryzen chip but i dont have the cash

its weird because today the game was running fine? ive already had the game on the lowest settings (still looked amazing!) 192071080 60fps. i had very little frame drops compared to last night where it was unplayable

using monitoring i can see it uses around 1700mb of the vram which is less than GTA V which runs flawlessly. I think it was most probably my outdated CPU being overused.

I'm going to play it for the next few days and if i find amy more problems or it becomes unplayable i may just upgrade to a 8350

Thanks for your help
