I have recently purchased a Xeon e3 1230 v5 with a motherboard capable of changing the base clock values for the CPU. But when I set the base clock to 110 or even 105MHz the over clock fails with the message last settings didn't work press f1 and so on. Does anyone know what is causing this?
All specs:
CPU: Xeon e3 1230 v5
Gpu: Evga GeForce Gtx 1070 ftw
Ram: (8x2)16gb hyper x 2133 ddr4
Mobo: Krait e3 gaming v5 worksation
Psu: Evga 650 gq
CPU cooling: deepcool captain 240

Note: I have a stable 100+MHz over clock on gpu

Solution
Increasing the BCLK overclocks the RAM and PCIe slots as well as the CPU, hence why it's best avoided.

There's no need to overclock a 1230 V5; it's a cracking CPU as it stands.
