Hey guys so I'm thinking of buying a new CPU cooler cause I'm with the stock AMD cooler and was wondering is there any big difference between the be quiet! PURE ROCK and be quiet! BLACK ROCK 3.

every aftermarket cpu cooler will offer reductions in noise and temperatures

this is important on the cases where you overclock the cpu

if you are not overclocking the cpu or have never heard the cpu fan spinning fast, perhaps you don't really need it

if you have played and have heard how horrible it sounds, buy one, be sure to apply the thermal compound before and enjoy lower temperatures and silence

Oh God I hope you've never heard the sound of a stock AMD cooler 😀 even without overclock it sounds like my PC is going to blow...
I'll buy one of the coolers but the question is which one I know the BLACK ROCK 3 is more high end cooler and I was wondering is there any big difference between those 2 coolers

i understood it wrong, sorry

i heard it, so you then need a aftermarket cpu cooler, most people gets a evo 212, just for the price, those be quiet are very expensive when compared to the evo

the two models are very different, in price and size, also in the shape

there, what could matter the most is the size of your case and if the minboard with the ram modules you have can work with it

this

and this

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V32N4373&cm_re=be_quiet_black_rock-_-13C-001F-00008-_-Product

are the ones you are looking for right?

for the size and way of the fan, i would get the one on the first link but the price is quite high

Well my case is this

http://www.deepcool.com/product/case/2014-05/9_840.shtml

and the mother board is this

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1K640W3777&cm_re=Asus_M5A97_Plus%2c_Socket_AM3%2b-_-9SIA1K640W3777-_-Product

I think both of the coolers

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V21E0632

and

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V2326642

would fit in it just wondering is it worth buying the first one.

Also I know about the evo 212 a friend of mine has one and it's really nice cooler so compared to all 3 of these which is the best for you

the evo is popular for price, size and shape making it friendly with most cases, but those you want, look really nice

if you don't find any problem with them in terms of reports about noise, heat or any other problems, i would get this one

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA68V21E0632

just for the looks, your case will look great with it

if budget is a problem, evo 212, you already know someone with it and can get information about it from him, noise, temperatures, ho hard is to install and if any problems arise from it

difference between the dark rock and pure rock (to answer your question) is the size of the heatsink

pure rock is 121x155x62.5mm with 4 heatpipes and a 120mm BeQuiet Pure Wings fan
dark rock is 137x160x97mm with 6 heatpipes and a 135mm BeQuiet fan (probably a special Shadow Wings or even Silent Wings model)

as for a cooler to suggest it really depends on your CPU

Well my CPU is FX-6350 and I will definitely overclock it once I buy a new cooler... I will do a bit more researches about all 3 of the coolers and I'll make a choice But I've heard be quiet! coolers are really good.

depends what you call "really good"
they're mostly a bit pricey and are not as potent as similar priced coolers but usually quieter

the CM 212 Hyper is quite alright, I'd take a look at Cryorig, Scythe and Noctua as well

Choice of cooler depends on the levels of punishment you can expect. If you plan on pushing that fx close to 5GHz, you'll need something respectively beefy, if you plan on not going that hard core, you could go with something smaller. With 168mm of cooler clearance in the case, you'll not be limited by pretty much any choice.

Personally, I'd go with the biggest cooler you can justify budget for, you can't overcool a cpu, and having the extra capacity you'll not be restricted by temps no matter what you choose to do. A heavy video render using all 6 cores at close to 100% loads is gonna get warm, no matter what the OC, so plan accordingly.

4.5 on a hyper212 is getting close to its limits, it is a budget cooler after all. You might want to look at mid range coolers like the cryorig H5 etc. The DR Pro 3 would be a better choice than the hyper212

IDK if DR Pro 3 would fit in the case and it will block most of my ram slots it would be okay if I buy DR 3 which is a bit smaller than the pro version

Sure. But wondering. How does it block most of your ram slots and nobody else's? Even the biggest coolers like the Noctua NH-D15 or Raijintek Nemesis at most only block the first slot. Are you sure you aren't thinking the cooler goes on backwards? Fan towards the front, long side towards the rear. And your case will fit upto a 168mm tall cooler, which is 99% of all ATX coolers on the market. Absolutely no reason why anything you choose won't fit.
