How do you beat ravager affinity? Do you have to be playing it too,
or Goblin Bidding, or Tooth N' Nail style decks? What Type 2 cards
stomp on it? New deck ideas welcome.

Well, I played the following deck at the Nationals qualifiers, which
pretty well walks all over it. It's not exactly optimal (try replacing
the oblivion stones with something more useful - possibly Pulse of the
Forge or Slice and Dice), but it was good enough on the day. Quick
warning - you cannot possibly beat U/W control, but otherwise it's good.

From http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/expandnews.php?Article=7006

4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Stalking Stones
4 Great Furnace
4 Forgotten Cave
9 Mountain
4 Darksteel Ingot
4 Seething Song
4 Oblivion Stone
4 Culling Scales
4 Pyrite Spellbomb
4 Arc Slogger
4 Solemn Simulacrum
4 Furnace Dragon
3 Obliterate

Sideboard:
4 Electrostatic Bolt
4 Scrabbling Claws
3 Pyroclasm
3 Pulse of the Forge
1 Obliterate

If you're honestly looking for something to just smash Ravager Affinity, I
would suggest that you go with Elf 'n Nail since it's fast, consistent and
just dominates the matchup. Check the decklist from Seattle Regionals. It's
a good deck to play and it's pretty fun to play too.

I've never played against it, but wouldn't something like Aether Snap be
helpful? Or is this just too slow?

Clay Pierce used a black clerics deck to win the Southeast Regionals. Check
out the Southeast Regionals deck lists.

has anyone thought about r/w slide. i've played a few ravager affinity
decks at tournaments and its worked for me. game one is about 50/50 but
once you sideboard in 4 shatter and 4 echoing ruins you'll usually win.
echoing ruin their artifact lands that usuall makes em mad. use the
rift or a sparkspray to handle disiples and basically keep ravager
either killed or removed from the game till you play akroma's vengence
after that winning is easy next turn slap down a damping matrix and sit
there and control the board till you get some eternals or exalteds into
play. oh yeah hold on to a shatter or echoing ruin cuz you never know
when stabilizer shows up. and i've heard b/w kills my deck but noone
plays it where i'm at.

r/w slide is and always will be a powerful deck. Just like how skull
clamp gives mad card advantage to the basic weenie deck, cycling is
the mechanic to exploit for burn decks. But what is the b/w deck that
kills you? Did you mean u/w control?

lol blue is u not b. yes i meant u/w control but i haven't really played
it yet i'm just going by what people have said will happen if i played
it.

lol i remember i deck i used. it was at a time when everyone i played
except for two or three people used affinity but was before ravager
became popular, back in the broodstar days. but it used four hum of the
radix maindecked and was built soley to kill affinity it wasn't elves
though i can't remember what was really in it except that it made me
laugh when opponents had to pay 5 for a welding jar.

Has anyone tried Trinisphere? Or am I misinterpreting the rules?

I think the problem is that Trinisphere is too slow. Even if you can
cast it on turn 3, the Ravager player could already have enough on the
table to secure an insurmountable advantage.

Trinisphere would work...
You just need to make sure that you get one in your hand along with a Chrome
Mox along with the opportunity to go first to assure a turn two Sphere and
win the game from there...
