Beats by Dre + mic or new gaming headset

hi i have a pair of beats by dre solo HDs. These have a mic but to use it i need to by a splitter for about £5 so im tempted to buy a clip on mic for £6 as im guessing its better than the one on the beats

or for around 20-30 should i buy a new gaming headset with built in mic

I dont know how good the surround sound is on the beats compared to a headset or how good the mic quality will be

any advice is welcome, thanks

You could buy a whole new headset but you would be looking at a bit more money for a decent headset so it is probably not worth doing. A fairly decent clip mic should be fine if you are not looking for outstanding audio quality
