Hey folks - I am interested in putting a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 gaming card in my Dell OptiPlex 5040MT minitower -

The video card will fit in the chassis but the dell only has a 240W PSU - the video card requires additional power provided by the PSU - my Dell does not have any additional power cables/connectors --

Would it be possible for me to drop an upgrade 400W PSU into my Dell?

Thanks for any recommendations --

You're likely going to need a new case if you want to accommodate a sufficient power supply for the GTX 960, a normal ATX unit. Can you read me the power supply model? That'll help me know the actual form factor of your current unit.
I have the same issue with an Optiplex 5040.

The power supply is supposed a 240W but the model is listed as an "80 plus Bronze"
It is Dell part # D240EM-00

I tried an AMD R7 240 but it crashes constantly (reboot or else lockup with black screen) under Windows 7 and 10 using either old or new drivers.

Thoughts (other than buy a different PC)?
