Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080,

Additional Comments: I have 6 dead laptops, I would like to use the harddrives, SSD, and memory from these. They are all Gaming laptops, including 2 Alienware. My last build was the first Intel 4 processor XT i believe, it was, and is still running, Need a system that will display FF 14 in all its glory, Should not take a Top-Of-the line grafics card to do that. Not sure about the latest components, that is where i need the help, but I have been building PC's for a while. Toms is my bible!

This build is meant for gaming at 1080P. Best to have a G-Sync compatible monitor if you plan on doing any gaming or this build is a waste. The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan.

LOL that is massive overkill for the game listed, and I would never recommend a F CPU to save 30 bucks when it's already way over what is needed.

Best to have a G-Sync compatible monitor if you plan on doing any gaming or this build is a waste WHAT ?????????????

Check this out ZERK. The OP has a mess of gaming laptops. Do you have any idea how much a gaming laptop cost? *Removed by moderator* . That's a $1500 build that will last the OP a good long time.

Reread the OP thread, he wants to re-use laptop memory in this build, so unless the B760 can accept laptop SO-Dimms, your mobo/cpu choice is a non-starter.

I think the OP just doesn't realize that the SODIMM memory in a laptop is not the same as standard DIMM memory on a desktop and is not compatible.

I also think the i7 is a bit of a waste when the i5-13600K would be a better overall fit because it's got integrated graphics as a backup solution for troubleshooting (the F variant does not), is overclockable (the F variant is not), and costs less, all while only have 2 less cores.

Other than that I think the OP should clarify if they meant to carry over the "NO" from "NO ASUS" to all three things listed.

After that, we should assume they already have a case, PSU, a cooler, and fans since they didn't list those components as what they need for their upgrade (unless they intend to clarify that they do actually need more component recommendations than just CPU, MB, and GPU)

And LT has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Less than 900 bucks!
All I go by is what he says it will be used for!

Integrated graphics with an MSI card.

If you're going that route then go for the 5600 seeing how not only does it run cooler than the older 5600X but it also cost less. Take the savings and put it towards a better board.

Not going to get off the original topic you can if you wish mine is 900 bucks and will do everything he listed, not everybody plays the newest AAA games.

Why would you suggest an older cpu that runs hotter and cost more than the 5600?
Good processor probably overkill for what he said, same as the video card and 32GB of memory. But will completely max out what he said and @1080p will play all games that are even out today @1080p with decent settings.

Not the newest games maxed out but still decent stetting with a target of 60FPS with mid or so settings at that resolution.
LT's can't compare to PC for the money spent.

That's my last post here unless the poster asks me a direct question.

WOW! A lot of reply's. I have had nothing but trouble with ASUS, that is the meaning of that comment. Is there anything I can salvage from the laptops? They all have 1 tb hard drives, 6 drives in a raid array??? My monitor is G-sync capable. Are there any regular desktop cases, that are good., I am not sure I want another mini-tower. I am currently running a "ROG zephyrus", from ASUS, that has fans that make strange noises when I start it up in the morning, hence the quest for a new PC. I was thinking about replaceing the fans, but ASUS support said they do not sell parts, and it could take 15 days to get it repaired. At least if I build it myself, I can repair it. SWMBO and I usually get new laptops about the same time. Just after the warrenty expires. I have 2 ASUS, 2 MSI, and 2 Alienware, stacked up on my bookshelf, in various states of functioning.

It looks like Why Me, seems to be along the lines of what I want. I kinda like Gigabyte MB's, for old times sake, is there an equivalent? Are laptop SSD's useable in a PC? Is ABIT still in business? I did a lot of PC's with their MBs. Thanks for all the information, I will probably be back, with , more stupid questions, Thanks!

Abit has been out of business for awhile now ... well over a decade. MSI makes some decent boards these days. Your laptop SSD should work fine. That build I posted might have been a tad overkill. Here's a far more mellow build as in not nearly as aggressive.

Looks pretty good, however I would like on board graphics. One of my laptop husks, has a broken Nvidia card. Want to avoid that situation. A lot of it comes from Amazon, SWMBO, will like that. Can I use the laptop Hard drives? I believe the MB supports raid, that might be something to look at in the future.

It's funny that OP says that about ASUS when I have had nothing but good experiences with ASUS products both for MB and graphics cards, but have had 2 failed MSI boards, 2 failed Gagabyte boards, and 1 failed Gigabyte graphics card in the past.

Just basically means that brand has nothing to do with it, and it has more to do with just getting a good quality product off the production line and not getting unlucky.

When I did Intels first 4 processor, I followed Toms advice, and got the ASUS mb. Would not POST. Returned to Newegg, got a replacement. Would not POST. Returned to Newegg. Went to Frys, got a ABIT MB, still running today.

And now for something completely different. I have a 65 inch Plasma monitor, can I use that for a PC monitor? Has anyone ever tried that? Could be a very Imersive RPG environment,

If you use that as a monitor then look at a gpu with more VRAM such as this one for example.
