The cooler almost certainly already has thermal paste applied...just use that.

sorry bought the CPU with no cooler going to use my deepcool 00 tower that i've been using on my fx8350 going in a Gigabyte Auriious X57 Extreme Have been out of the game for years , so treat me as a know nothing , brain is barely functioning after a few strokes and seizures .

Assuming that DeepCool is coming off something else, it will need a clean and application of new thermal paste. Not 'pad'.
