WD Passport 1TB suddenly started beeping (after 5months or so) without any drops or hits or knocks as such... once around after 3 months of usage the external hard drive did touch the edge of a table as I moved it but it didn't slow down in performance or transfer rates after that

but the week in which it did beep the access to the files was a bit slow

the light still blinks as it normally does and the beeping is on for a few seconds and then off .. and the beeps keep repeating in a similar pattern ... however, in between the beeping sometimes the disk does spin

when it started beeping I tired to use the safely remove option but it didn't appear so I pulled the usb out of the pc, (does this have any impact), then after a few minutes tried it again with pc the drive wasnt recognized and it beeped, i tried to use the drive with a laptop but it beeped and could not be recognized so I pulled the usb out and haven't touched it since

I used to use the hard drive sometimes not for days, other times till the download completed that meant rarely 5hours sometimes 2 hours or so

it has been around 2 weeks since it beeped

is the data recoverable?

if i wait to recover the data for a month will be the data be still there?

can it be fixed at-least? if the data cannot be recovered

if so why wasn't it detected by both the desktop and the laptop?

but suppose the hardrive's arm or the spindle or the arm's head are messed up ... does that mean the data is gone or not?
my concern is regarding the data .. under which conditions does the data get wiped out or become unrecoverable ... because when i called the data recovery guy he said that it is also possible that the data cannot be recovered since the drive is not being read

also ...if i wait for a month before getting the drive fixed does it affect the data stored in any way?
