Hey guys,

I have a 4TB Seagate Backup Plus External Hard Drive which dropped off my desk. I plugged in my External hard drive and I am getting a beeping noise and I can't access the drive on my PC. It is showing up in Computer Management but no options are click able. I have important files on the hard drive. I very much want to recover the data. What should I do?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Solution
Hard drives don't like being dropped, they can tolerate a drop of a few inches but nothing greater than that.
Test it with SeaTools for Windows using the long/extended test, to see if it has sustained permanent damage:

You should always save your important files on at least two separate hard drives in case one fails or gets dropped
