Hi,

I think I am ready to place an order, but would like to get your input before i do so.

1 - BOX NEXUS BREEZE CASE 350W SILENT
2 - PSU *
3 - MOBO ASUS S939 NF4 PCI-E 8CH GLAN SATA RAID
4 - CPU AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ S939 1.8G BOX VENICE
6 - RAM 1GB Kingston KVR400X64C3AK2/1G
7 - VGA SAPPHIRE X850 XT PCI-E 256MB VGA+DVI+TVO
8 - HDD CAVIAR 250GB SATA3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB
9 - DVD SAMSUNG DVD+-RW DL RAM LIGHTSCRIBE NERO
0 - Sound none
C - OS WIN XP HOME, SP2, UK, OEM (1)

System will be used for gameing.

I am letting the PC shop build this, and that limist my options :(

1) PSU (+64€)
I mostly wory about the PSU 350W in the Nexus case. I guess the Nexus PSU is ok brand. There is option for 350w, 400w and 500w. The 500w is 64€ more on this 875€ package.

2) Memory (+80€)
Also the memory is 1GB. To get 2GB its 80€ more.
They use Kingston. I will not over clock.

3) Sound (+50€)
Sound is integrated. Some say its not good. But is a cheep soundcard any beter? Audigy4 cost almost as much as the mobo lol.
Sound card options:
- "GAMESURROUND MUSE 5.1 DVD + HEADSET" € 26,21
- "CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY SE" € 35,88
- "HERCULES FORTISSIMO IV SOUND CARD" € 43,68
- "CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 4 BULK" € 49,16
- "CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 4" € 66,77

4) CPU (+200€)
Dual core CPU. Hmm that is 200€ more than the singel core...
It would be nice to have 2 CPU's, but I guess I will not even notice it ?

5) Video
I think the Radeon X850XT is good enough for me.
But also considering GF 7600GT. Price is about the same...

I do not think I can save money any where here.

If you could spend 100€ more, what wuold you upgrade ?
What if you had 200€ ?

Will the setup even work lol :)

Thank You for Your time.

PS.
I could order parts and build it my self, but I wory that I get DOA or break somthing. So I want this PC shop here in Finland to build & test the new PC, so I just can use it :)

I hate to point this out, but that system as you listed it will already have moderate difficulty with the newest games (Oblivion, BF2, etc) and will definitely show its age once the next batch of games comes out.

Unfortunately, I think you need to upgrade the RAM, CPU and video card... and those options MIGHT require a higher rated power supply.

For the CPU I'd aim for an AMD 64 3700+ or maybe even the dual core X2-3800+.

For the memory... two GB would definitely be utilized if you're a gamer.

For the video card... perhaps an ATI 1800 XT if you can find one on the cheap... the 1900 is a better card in practically every way and that should encourage local shops to push the 1800's out the door if they have any in stock.

If it were me, I'd get a quote from a local shop with the specific components being used and then add up how much it would cost to do it yourself... if the numbers are way apart, you should at least consider the DIY option. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your build.

I'd go with the larger 450 or 500 watt PSU if possible (although 65 additional euros for it seems a bit steep...can you get it without a PSU and install your own Antec 500/550?), and I would also opt for the 7600GT over an X850 series of gpu.....

I'd also consider bumping the processor up to at least a 3500+ if possible, which is still a sweet spot in cpu pricing for single core models, and is also the spot where further cpu core speed increases beyond 2.2GHz result in less impressive gains...

Thank you for suggestions.

Ati 1800XT is ~300€ more.
7900GT would be ~130€ more.

AMD 3500XP is + ~100€ to get 400MHz more speed
AMD 3700XP is + ~150€ to get 400MHz and 1MB L2

Would I even notice if my PC runs 400MHz faster ?

2GB value ram +80€
2GB Kingston HyperX +136€

And 64€ more for 500w PSU.

I am considering the RAM and PSU first that is ~150€ more.

If I put an other ~150€ more, I think I put it on the 7900GT.

But then I am putting 300€ more on a 800€ system...

How can I tell how much power the video card takes?
Does the 7600GT take less power compared to X850XT ?

Oh it is not easy to buy a PC these days lol

I have to think a few days on this again I guess.

400mhz faster is like 5 frames per sec. So no you wouldn't notice a speed jump. If at all possible i would go for 2 gigs of ram. That you will notice. And even if you dont today you will tomarrow. Games really do chew thru ram like nothing. So the more you have the smoother it will be. Onboard sound might be good enough for most people so you could save money there. Spend that saved money on a better video card.
