Beginner's i5 Overclocking Help

Hi all, I'm trying to follow the new guide on overclocking i5s. Like the article says, I can get it to 3.6 GHz no problem. Using the same settings as specified in the article, I can't get past 3.6 GHz. If I bump the FSB to 190 MHz and bump the voltage to 1.32, I get three reboots and then an overclock failed message. Any ideas? I've got an MSI P55-GD80 with GSkill 1600 8-8-8-24 DDR3 and made sure to disable Intel’s overspeed protection.

Are you going for a permanent overclock? If you are, then you might want to think about leaving it between 3.4 and 3.6.

If you're just trying to see how far you can get it, then I would bump the voltage up a bit more. 1.4 or so, if you can't get more out of it at that voltage, then its a different component. Have you lowered the memory/NB clocks at all?

I bumped up the voltage to 1.4 and the VTT to 1.3. Works like a champ. I managed to get it up to 4 GHz. I'll run prime on it and watch the temps. Thanks for your help.
