Oh no
No Nvidia vs AMD fanboi slapfights please :)

I have owned both Nvidia and ATI and they were both good

I will say that AMD needs to do better with the drivers
and I own a AMD card
Forceware has always been less hassle on installs and glitches

I will go run RE5 so you guys can get a good laugh LOL

using RE5 bench

Settings

DX10
1920x1080
AA and AF at highest settings dont remember
motion blur on
basically the highest settings I could set

the mighty midget HD 5670
scores a huge @33 FPS in bench

Hey at least I can max that game out LOL
It was only made in 2009 :)

^yeah I remember playing it with a 4870 (obviously a bit quicker than your 5670) a while back and it was perfectly fine @1080p

oh and did you use 32XCSAA like we were using up there? if so i am impressed with the 5670... also did you do the variable bench?

Wait a minute

I used the fixed bench

Okay so I checked the RE5 system settings on bench

And I can only go to 8x AA on DX10 bench

I tried settings on launch screen (where it gives choice of dx9 and dx10 versions)

So how do I make it 32xcsaa?

my settings on my run
were

1920x1080
DX10
AA 8x
motion blur on
full screen
no vsync

Cinebench was 38.06 fps for opengl and CPU was 6.74pts

Ahh another Malmental Minion joins the Rebel Alliance :)

nice numbers
except your Cinebench scores seem off to me

was it Cinebench 11.5?

because my HD 5670 scores in the 30s and your 460 should toast the HD 5670
also i thought 2600s scored higher on CPUs in that bench
did you have background apps and antivirus running?
because they kill the CB 11.5 scores

and what 3dmark was that?
Looks like a Vantage score?
if so that is a nice score for no OC

why dont you OC?
dont need it, dont want to risk it or dont know how?

sorry for being nosy :)

but you have a great rig
and with an OC (especially on GPU) she is a real beast

Turned off Avast and got 51.46 fps for OpenGL and 6.83 on CPU

Yeah, avast is not nice. And this was 11.5 Cinebench.

Going to re-run Heaven with Avast off.

EDIT:

Turning Avast off made no difference for the Heaven benchmark.

that sounds way better on the OpenGL
I scored a 36 on OpenGL bench with my HD 5670
so I know the 460 should score way higher

actually when I bench
I turn off the secondary display
I disable the AV
I dsable Windows Aero
I also disable all bkgrnd programs like Asus Audio center, system monitors etc
I also will use Task Manager to disable all unnecessary processes

with a puny system like mine you need every edge you can get

the guys going for super benches will have the OS completely stripped out
just for bench running
absolutley nothing that isnt needed is running

...the 7850 will out gun the 6950! That's just f'd up! It's good and bad in a way... people are buying 6000 series cards and soon to be VERY obsolete here shortly... Wish AMD would give dates on time of release and what we can expect with pricing.

i'm betting an arm and a leg and my neck even, that when the 7xxx comes out, the 6xxx will still be playing videogames.

EOL doesn't necessarily mean obsolete, in the epeen sense yes, but in practicality not so much. :non: .

Anti-Virus

Cinebench is real sensitive to real time virus scanners ie nortons, avg, avast etc

I have the option with my AV of disabling for set times or until system restarts

remember when your system is moving files around the AV is scanning them
without you even realizing it

brave man

do you do manual scans?

your scores on Cinebench were good
I was just curious because of the effect AV has on it

Me personally I am an AV nut

I use Nortons 2011 security suite with manual scans with Malware Bytes
Sophos Anti Rootkit, Kasperkys scanner and Mcafees Avert manual scanner

90 percent of the time just come up with tracking cookies
but cant be too careful

Yeah easily hands down beat me with an i7 2600k :p
Try hitting 5.0ghz on that cpu and err yeah.....

I expected that considering hyperthreading... I'm wondering why the openGL score is so much better than the GTX480 (seriously).

The 480 uses openGL 3.2 right? The 6950 4.1(??).

If more people can confirm this it would explain it...

For he he's and ha ha's here's a 4.8ghz (LLC 2 with offset of .04v- so 1.38-1.39v) run... I'm a stability nut so I had to test and make sure I was stable at these speeds... ~
