BenQ GL2460 purple and green lines, turning on and off, with GTX 970

I've had this monitor for about a month now and it's caused me no problems. But until a few days ago, there were some purple and green horizontal lines flickering on the monitor, it then turned on and off again.

Could it be my GPU overheating? As I turned on my PC fans full blast and then it seemed to stop. It is the Gigabyte GTX 970 ITX.

Maybe try updating the motherboard's bios to the latest, stable revision.

The only way to tell if your graphics card is overheating is to monitor the temps.
