I'd go for an IPS panel for console use mate in all honesty.
We're at the stage where a good 5ms IPS panel is fine for gaming use for anyone apart from the most picky competitive PC gamer.
Also something with HDMI audio pass through so you can plug a speaker set in the monitor rather than messing with extra cables (because monitor speakers are always really poor)

Thank you for the links! The asus MX239H seems nearly perfect. Would there be a noticeable difference between 1/2ms compared to 5ms on the IPS display?
5ms is the minimum you will get on an IPS mate due to the way IPS technology works.
The MX are asus's premium line , they are pretty much the best quality panels you can get in their price range.
Honestly though ignore that ms rating , its really a very very inaccurate way to rate the screen quality.
If you stuck the vx & MX side by side you would take the MX every time on brightness, clarity & colour accuracy.
& there is no ghosting on the MX IPS , none at all.
Very nice display. No problem with the 5ms, just like you said. The only thing is that the game mode on the display is not anywhere as good looking as the standard mode. Does anyone have settings to improve the game mode ? Also how do I know if I should set my ps4 to full or limited with the mx239h? Thank you!
Set it to full.
Personally id use the sRGB mode & set trace free to between 40-60 for just about everything mate.
You really don't have to use the game mode setting at all if you don't want to.
You could copy other users settings off the web & they may look completely different in your environment.
sRGB tends to be the best looking preset out of the box on any ips screen.
