I am looking at one of the new BenQ XL2420Z LED monitors to replace my old Samsung HD monitor, if i want to get the most out of my hardware and access the higher refresh rates will i have to connect via DVI? if so can i connect to the monitors inbuilt speakers or will i need external speakers?

That will depend on which gpu you have. The better the gpu,the higher the fps.

I can't find anything that suggests that this monitor has build in speakers so you would need external ones.It has a 3.5 audio connector, but that is for a headphone or the same external speakers to connect to.You could use hdmi to connect so you would get the audio signal with the image signal together.

the graph on the amazon page claims it has inbuilt speakers, i just do not know if there is a separate method to connect them to the computer
