So my model is the BenQ GL2760H,

Ive had it about a month and recently moved to a new house its an oldish house and a few nights ago we had the breaker for the plugs sockets trip. When this happened I'm sure I heard a small pop that seamed to come from my monitor (my console and speakers etc that I was using still work fine) and upon turning the power back on, nothing. The monitor was completely dead no picture no lights no nothing. After contacting BenQ support they gave me a few "tests" that may make the monitor come back on, none of them worked and they said they won't replace it or fix it under warranty because its not a manufacturing problem. My problem is how do they know this, is it worth opening the back up to see if it's just the fuse that need replacing? I don't know anything about what could have happened any help would be great

normally its not the breaker tripping its when the power comes back on it can cause a problem

had similar after a power cut when the power came back on

i got no where as told like you its not a manufacturers fault

and got absolutely no where with the power company as according to them they are not liable for damage caused in that situation even though they admit it probably caused it
It's most likely that the monitor failed and caused the breaker to trip, in my opinion. A breaker tripping due to overload is pretty unlikely to damage a monitor, and if something did damage the monitor it probably would have damaged other stuff.

Is it still in the warranty period? If so, make sure you get them telling you that opening it won't void the warranty in writing, if you choose to open it.

Is there any smell of smoke around the monitor?
