Alright so I'm currently gaming on a laptop (Sager NP9150) w/ a AMD 7970m and Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics...

I decided I wanted an external display to make gaming easier for when I'm at home, and having two displays is never a bad option. But I noticed that the text on the new BenQ monitor I ordered doesn't look nearly as crisp as it does on my laptop monitor. I'm using an HDMI cord and I have the resolution set to full and I've tried messing with the settings on the monitor, but nothing makes a decent change. I have also tried the ClearType feature in Windows 7, but that didn't really make any difference.

When I open my Intel HD Graphics driver software it labels the monitor is "Digital Television BenQ RL2455HM"... Is this why it is making my text not as clear, because it recognizes it as a TV? I was also thinking of buying the ASUS VX238H, would that have been a better option?

Thanks in advance!

Hello.

I bought the same monitor. And yes it has a horrible text quality, but only if you are in the wrong picture mode.
Change it for standard and it will be perfect.

I've tried changing those settings, just makes it worse... I mainly play CSGO and it runs 100-200 fps depending on the map. I don't see how it would have troubles displaying text... 😵

i've tried hdmi and dvi, both give similar results, but the dvi cord seems to give a better contrast between blacks and whites.

Try these settings on your monitor. It made the text perfect for me.

brightness 80%
contrast 50%
AMA: OFF
overscan off
sharpness 3
saved to gamer mode 1

How do you change the mode i also just bought this monitor

Hi Guys, I also recently bought a Benq monitor and messed around with settings in Catalyst centre for ages before realisng it is the "Super Resolution" setting in the monitors settings. To change this press the soft touch button to the left of the power LED along the bottom of the monitor > Select the menu (1st on left of red X) > scroll down to Picture Advanced > Use arrows to select Super Resolution and turn it off. I was ready to throw this monitor away until I sorted this out :wahoo:
