Hi,

First post here. I'm looking to upgrade or complement my current monitor setup with a newer display that will be suitable for 3D. photo, graphic design, casual gaming and movie viewing. I've read that 4K is not the best on a windows setup because not all software is optimized for 4k resolution, so I kind of ruled those out. So now I'm left with the tough decision between a BenQ Sw2700PT or a Dell 3415W widescreen.

Here are the specs for the BenQ: http://www.benq.us/product/monitor/sw2700pt/specifications/

Has anyone had any experience with this BenQ?

Any advice or other suggestion will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Paul

That's a decent monitor. but for the love of god please get this: http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2720Z-Gaming-Monitor-Resolution/dp/B00GWFNMJS

It's the Benq XL2720Z. It's MUCH better for gaming, it has a refresh rate of 144 (NO screen tearing), and it's 1440p like the one your thinking about.

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll check it out! Although, I'm just a casual gamer. I mostly use the computer for work, 3D, Photoshop, Illustrator and coding. That's why I'm looking for an IPS panel.

If you don't do a lot of print work, I don't think you should buy such a high end monitor. Maybe you could check out the HP z27n?

Don't buy the XL2720Z, that TN panel is nowhere near as good for graphic work. It is designed for gaming and gaming only. The color accuracy is a lot worse than on the SW2700PT.

I would them go with the BenQ if it's the cheapest option and you are okay with it's design.
