So I have bought a Benq XL2410T monitor to use with my MSI GTX 460 Hawk

I have bought a DVI-D dual link cable but when I tried to change to 120hz and I still get a "incorrect cable type message"

I have tried a different GTX 460 that I have to use SLI eventually. Same issue

Any suggestions?

My first guess would be that you might have bought a single-link cable that was mis-labeled as dual-link. Could you take a photo of both ends of the cable and post it here? Also, have you tried the cable in every available DVI output? A GTX 460 will usually have 2 DVI outputs, but it might only support dual-link for one of them.

Picture here.

Looks Dvi-d to me... Cheap one i bought off ebay.....

Yes tried both dvi ports on gtx 460.

Ok, looks like all the pins are there for dual-link, and I don't see any bent or broken, so I'm stumped here. Maybe somebody else, who actually has experience with 120hz monitors, can help you.

Yes the cable looks ok

Does your GPU version have 2 DVI outputs? if yes, try plugging it in the other output, normally only one of the DVI outputs supports Dual Link DVI

It was the cheap dual-link ebay cable that was at fault, even though it did have all the pins for dual-link.

Bought another cable and now working fine at 120hz
