[SOLVED] Benq XL2411Z 144Hz display error

Hello! Just bought a BenQ XL2411Z today. Whenever I try and set it's refresh rate in Nvidia Control Panel the screen becomes very fuzzy and the monitor displays a notification in the bottom right corner saying "Incorrect cable. Please use the DVI Dual-link cable that came with your monitor"

I am using a DVI-D to DVI-D dual-link cable to achieve 144hz
Did a fresh install of my drivers for my gpu (GTX 970)

Anyone else run into issues like this? I'm thinking the cable could be defective, but wondering if anyone else has any ideas!

To achieve 144 Hz on your monitor, you will need a DVI to DVI-D dual-link active adapter.

Is it the one that came with the monitor? If it's a third party cable it may be a fake dual-link cable.
