Question Benq XL2411Z - Doesn't show 120Hz with DVI-D

Hi,

My monitor is capable to 1920x1080 120Hz, but in the windows setting it only allaws me to go with 60Hz.

My GPU is a RTX 3080Ti and I use a HDMI 1.4 - DVI-D cable to connect to my monitor.

Due to the fact that my GPU has no DVI input, and the monitor has no Display-port input, it was the only option for me to connect these together.

Please let me know if I forgot something important.

Thank you!

1080p@120Hz on your monitor is supported via DVI dual link only.
HDMI to DVI gives only single link.

To get 1080@120Hz, if no DVI output is available, then
you need Display Port to DVI dual link adapter.
Those are expensive.

This one:

Smarter thing probably would be getting a new monitor with Display Port input - 27" to 32" 1440p 120-165Hz.

Thank you for your answer.

I know I need DVI-Dual link and HDMI 1.3+ to get full hd 120Hz.

That's why I bought this cable (luckily I received it last Saturday, so I can ask for a refund) which is HDMI 1.4 (cable for full HD 120HZ) and DVI.D (also cable for full HD 120Hz)

Is there an option not to buy an adapter, only using cable with different connections?

P.S
It's my secondary monitor, so if it's not possible than I guess I'll use it on 60Hz.

This will not work, for reasons explained in the pinned thread. Please read section 0, which is written specifically about this exact model.

FYI that's still an adapter, there's no difference between an adapter cable and an adapter dongle, besides having a male vs female connector on the end, and the length of the cable section.

Thank you for the infos.

I guess I will just use it on 60Hz, because there is no reason to buy an expensive adapter for a secondary monitor just to use it on 120Hz. I really hoped that I could solve it under a couple bucks.

I'll refund my cable and I'll use a simple HDMI cable instead.
