I just bought a new BenQ XL2411Z because I wanted a 144Hz monitor but there's a really annoying, yet hard-to-describe issue with it. The colors are fine after calibrating it, it's what the screen does when I move things on it that's the issue. Whenever I move something on my screen (like a window, character in a game, etc), the screen gets significantly more "pixel-y" if that makes sense. The pictures I have aren't great, but they might help.

Here's what my screen looks like when nothing on it is moving: http://imgur.com/h3k002f

Notice the pixels look normal in this picture.

Now, here's what my screen looks like while I'm dragging the Google Chrome window across my screen: http://imgur.com/3remrmS

The pixels look awful and big. It may not seem like a huge deal, but it's VERY noticeable in games and even desktop applications. I am running at 144Hz (I've tried 120, it doesn't help), using a Dual-Link DVI cable. The firmware on my monitor is V1, and I do have BlurReduction on, which does help a little to turn it off (not by much), but the fluidity of my games goes way down if I do that.

I would start by double checking that you have the latest driver installed for your graphics card. Have you tried different "modes" on the monitor. A firmware update may help and you can also get different "modes" from benq here...

My drivers are all completely up-to-date. I've tried all of the modes that the monitor comes with (Standard, FPS 1, 2, and 3, Movie, Photo, sRGB, Eco, RTS, and even some custom ones to no avail. I also can't do a firmware upgrade, as I don't have the MSTAR ISP upgrader required to do so. I'm not sure what else to do. Nothing I change in settings fixes the issue. I've tried 120Hz, 100Hz, and even 60Hz and they all have the same issue.

Hmmm... How about any system settings. Are we using windows? Hold your Windows key+R key. Type systempropertiesadvanced and hit enter. In the advanced tab and in the performance field, click the settings button. Go to the Visual Effects tab. Then select that first radio button that says "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer," click apply, click ok. Does that change anything when dragging windows around?

Before all that - how are you connecting your monitor? HDMI? DVI? If DVI, is it the dual link cable that should have come with the monitor? Confirm for us please that it is plugged into your video card and NOT your onboard video port. Don't feel bad if it is, we've all made dumb mistakes.

The monitor is connected using the Dual Link DVI cable that came with it, and it is definitely plugged into my GPU and not onboard. There are two DVI slots on my GPU but both of them produce the same issue. I am running Windows 10 as well, but I am not home so I can't do your suggestion. I will update with the results of that.

Specs:
- AMD FX-8350 8 core CPU
- MSI GTX 970 4GB GPU
- MSI ATX DDR3 970 Gaming Motherboard
- 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
- EVGA SuperNOVA 750B1 750W PSU

I should have asked that earlier. Most windows 10 issues I've come across and seen on the forums here have been video related.

Also, in response to your suggestion to activate "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer": it was already checked so that's a no-go unfortunately. However, I noticed something interesting. If I set the monitor's Hz to 60, the problem goes away completely. Although that's not exactly a good solution, since I bought this monitor solely for 144Hz.

I have the same problem with my XL2411Z.
You have to be relatively close to the monitor to notice this or if you have really attentive eyes like me, it is easily noticeable and very annoying.
I purchased an XL2430T thinking I had a faulty monitor and it had the exact same 'problem'.

This leads me to believe that the monitors are simply designed this way and it is not a problem.

Can someone with a 144hz BenQ monitor test this out?
Get really close to your monitor and see if you can see the difference in the pixels when there is movement on your screen, play a game maybe.
I notice it so much when playing Counter-Strike, it seriously affects my gameplay.

dont get the XL2411Z its terrible!
ok for games 144hz is nice

Worst monitor I have owned.

in windows , in 6 months I'm still not happy. Tried all the presets, spent hours and hours
Bad clarity and colors are messed up, Brightness is insane (the backlight) has to be turned down to 30% which makes grays even worse.

Save to get the XL2430T

many people have returned thier XL2411Z to get XL2430T and are now happy
