Benq XL2411z won't display 120hz at native resolution

I have a raedeon R7 250 graphics card, it has a DVI-D port, and I'm using the DVI cable that came with the benq monitor, but for some reason the monitor's refresh rate is capped at 60hz for resolutions above 1024x768, I don't know what's causing this, can someone help me.

are there drivers installed for your gpu? make sure you are running the lattest ones.! your monitor is also 144hz capable at 1080p!

Yea I downloaded the latest drivers from AMD website, but still capped at 60hz :/

It would appear that the r7 250 does not support dual link DVI-D, which means you cannot get 120hz with that video card.

I had searched other 250's, with the same result. It is possible an exception exists, but I'd just assume that it is not available because your card doesn't support it.

awww okay. But is it possible to use a display port to reach the 120hz? Otherwise I gotta save money for a new video card .

Yes, assuming the monitor has a DP connection. Unfortunately that video card doesn't have one that I saw. Perhaps you have another version than what I posted?

the sapphire link @bystander has linked does state single link dvi , photos however show dual link dvi! just make sure what you have by physically inspecting your gpu inputs.! if it is actually a single link you will need a gpu upgrade!

But is it possible to use a display port to reach the 120hz?

you would need a dual link dvi gpu input in order to run a dp cable with adapter to reach 120/144hz!

Most monitors and GPU's always have ports that have all the pins so that people can use Dual Link DVI cables, even when they are single link.

true, fanny that amd offers 4k support through hdmi but not dl dvi for 120/144hz or higher that 1200p.
