Yet another thing has gone wrong with my gaming setup 🙁 I looked everywhere, and could not find the solution, other people had this problem, but there solution was not mine 🙁 should i return the monitor? or is the problem easily fixed? getting the full 120hz is vary important to me, because i play fps competitively.

---~~The actual important stuff~~---

Ok, I have dual msi 7970 lightning graphics cards, the top one is attached to my BenQ xl2420t (1080p 120hz) monitor with dual link dvi (I am using the cable that came with the monitor) I cant get it to run at 120hz

--what I know--

-it is definitely dual link dvi. it says dual link on the actual cable, and it has a full set of pins that plug into the slot labeled dvi-d on the monitor

-I can only enable 120hz at resolutions of 1024x768

-when I arrange the cable different ways sometimes it doesn't even give me the option for 120hz at any resolution ~AND~ I tried plugging it into the bottom card and the monitor didn't recognize it (something to do with the pci slot maybe?)

-I am running windows 7 64-bit

- am using ccc

-I am not sure if i have the benq driver, because it doesn't show up on the start menu, but when i try and update it it says its already up to date???

-everything else about my monitor works fine

I seriously cant figure this out on my own! Thanks in advance!

what do i do after flipping the switch and turning on the power

Ok, I have no idea how I have never been told about this, but about five minutes ago I figured out that the 7970 lightning cards I have don't have dual link DVI you need to use an active mini-DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter (which I have have had this whole time) -BUT,-

a NEW problem arises there are FOUR different mini display ports -_-

Which one do I use?
Does it matter?

Ok, this is getting on my nerve, I plugged everything in I am sure it is active adapter, and still cant enable 120hz on 1080p!!! help!!!

Also i read that the adapters cost $100 but yet they came with my card

Hi there. I hope I'm not late in replying. I own both of these. I have BenQxl2420t and 2x MSI 7970 lightning cards. i even bought a third one for tri fire. BenQxl2420t has a Display port option. So if you use a display port cable (in this case, should be the Mini DP to DP cable). You can attach the mini DP to ANY (it does not really matter) of the mini DP female connector in the lightning 7970, then at the other end of course the DP to your benq monitor. This is the best solution as it guarantess 120hz plus some minor advantages over the dual link dvi cable.

Or, you can use a DP to DP cable and use the mini dp to DP adaptor that comes with the MSI lightning. Mini Dp from the 7970 lightinign card anf DP plug to Benq. It will still be the same result.

The other option is to use an active mini DP to DVI adapter, which is usually powered bu USB some Apple product use this. But most of these active adapters are pricey. Hope this helps. Goodluck
