BenQ XL2420TE Refresh?

I just built my first system in ages and I have a minor issue. I have a BenQ XL2420TE monitor that I can't get to display on anything other than 60 Hz.

My brief system specs are:
EVGA GTX 770
ASUS Z87 Pro
i7 4770K

I have tried to change the refresh rate through the nVidia's control panel and through Window's monitor resolutions. I am running the latest driver and my monitor is using a HDMI cord if that makes any difference. I only purchased this monitor because I read that the monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate was great for FPS and an overall a smoother experience.

dvi-d connection is the only one that supports more than 60hz plug it in trough that

Dual Link DVI-D is required. Any old DVI-D cable is most likely single link and won't work. Displayport, if offered can also work.
