What's the consensus on these two monitors? I can't really decide by myself because there's nowhere for me to go see them in person so I have to buy online.

Will be using it to play games, watch videos and general stuff. Will be an upgrade from a hideous Samsung TV monitor. Even a cheap laptop monitor looks better than my current one. Font is TERRIBLE. (Typing this from a laptop with IPS.)

I don't want IPS because I want those ridiculous frame rates.

You said "I don't want IPS because I want those ridiculous frame rates." Really? There are S-IPS monitors that support up to 120Hz right now that you can buy!! I own an Overlord Tempest X270OC 27" S-IPS 2560x1440 monitor that allows for 120Hz refresh rate. Go here and get yours now:

Glossy screen: http://overlordcomputer.com/collections/27-monitors/products/tempest-x270oc-glossy

Matte screen: http://overlordcomputer.com/collections/27-monitors/products/tempest-x270oc_ag

Just make sure you buy the "OC" version and not the "ME" version.

Too expensive and I don't want anything bigger than 24in. But thanks for letting me know about those for future reference.

But the Asus VG248QE has been listed as having an upgrade kit coming when G-sync is available, so if that is on your list, it isn't a bad deal. No other specific models have been listed as having an upgrade kit. The Asus VG248QE was listed, because it served as the prototype.

The BenQ XL2420TE has a refresh rate of 144hz to...you might of been talking about the XL2420T from BenQ.
