I just bought this monitor and really disappointed me.
1080p movies look like shit. especially the black colors.
i can see pixels in the black colors especially.
even youtube videos doesnt look right.
Ive looked online and even downloaded some ICC profiles but it just doesnt get any better.
Im using DVI-D cable. gtx770 nvidia.
My previous monitor which was 170$ only looked alot better.

sample : http://postimg.org/image/xrpq00yi3/
and thats a 1080p movie
anyone can help me? really appreciate it very much. Thanks!

Edit: im not even sure if what i screeshoted above would look the same on your computer as it does on mine.

you got 2 threads on this so I assume toms will delete this one or the other ? so I'll re post from your first

that seems to be common with them .. some guys here with same and looking at the reviews [enduser] seems they say that with them as well ?

I would look over the end user reviews of your model like from amazon or newegg and see whats said on it ?? that's about all you can do and fingers crossed your you ordered don't have the issue ??

Well if your previous monitor was an IPS panel, chances are the picture quality is less on your XL2430T. The XL sports a fast 144Hz TN panel but is still TN. TN lacks in color reproduction, contrast, and viewing angles compared to IPS or VA panels. There is only so much calibrating one can do, image quality is still limited by TN technology.

''Now, for all the gripes you read about TN panels looking washed out and horrible viewing angles, I was pleasantly surprised once I did a little tinkering with the settings. I used Tom's Hardware Guide's settings and the image came out fantastic. You definitely dont want to leave it at the default "FPS 1" setting as it is FAR too bright and harsh looking. Take some time to calibrate it ''

''Once I had the monitor set up, I installed the BenQ software. The first thing the software has you do is run through a brightness and contrast calibration to give you a good starting point for your monitor settings.''

just from 5 star reviews so may need to do some setting work once you get it running ? [seems it should be dang close out of the box ]

http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2430T-Gaming-Monitor-Respo...

''Monitor needs a lot of adjustment in term of display''

''Cons: The colors. Out of the box they are really, really bad. Worse than regular TN panels to me.''

''Cons: While this monitor has possibly the best TN display I've ever seen it still falls a bit short to IPS displays in the range regarding image quality''

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

so you may have some work cut out once you get it ??

I guess use thay tool / program as said in the amazon review ??

'' I installed the BenQ software. The first thing the software has you do is run through a brightness and contrast calibration to give you a good starting point for your monitor settings.''

just seems like QC from benQ is lackluster overall ??

good luck

its a tn panel as well. Its samsung s23c350h

its not like in near every user review on picture quality or on washed out even the the best 5 star ones state that ? you see a lot of benq threads just here at toms like yours as well . not hard to understand that's what you may get when you choose it or any benq

get a calibrating program/tool and adjust it out the best you can or rma for something your more pleased with .

good luck
