I bought the sound card in the title and when it came, pretty much all capacitors were bent and it had a bad smell, something you would expect from burnt electronics. So I did an RMA, and they said it was justified and sent me a new one. Then, guess what? The new one had exactly the same problem: burnt smell and bent capacitors.
It made me start to think, is this normal in this sound card that it has slightly bent capacitors and this kind of smell? Would it be safe to test whether it works when inserted into a PCI slot?

I did check the serial number and it was different than in the first one. I don't really have a system that I wouldn't care about breaking.
