Reciently bought a new HD, and when i recieved, it, i put it into the middle slot in an IDE ribbon: Big Mistake! After trying to remove it, the clip from the ribbon broke off!! I got the clip off the HD, but now several of the pins, mainly pins 39 and 40 are bent close to the bottom. I was wondering what common house-hold items you could use to straighten them out.

Well for times like this I always have a bunch of dental picks and tools to work with bent pin, jumpers, and scrap sod way. But around the house you could use a safty pin, small sharp knife, or even a small nail. A paper clip might not be stong enough to ben back that pins. Just to be safe make yourself a staic band so you dont shor out anyting. Anything will do. Try taking bare speaker wire, wraping it around your wrist and attaching the other end to the case frame.

It seems that every time I reboot my wallet get smaller.

Be careful, as the next thing you know, the pin may become pushed into the drive or snap off...
Just a caution.
