Bent noctua nhd14 on arrival

Hi guys, so I ordered a pc from chillblast uk and the pc arrived with the noctua cooler bent towards the rear of the case, i also noticed so of the fins on the radiator bent in.
My question is, is this normal because of the soft pipes and can i bend it back into position safely, or is this essentially a fault on chillblasts behalf?

soft pipes? This is NOT normal. RMA immediately. That is a very heavy cooler so probably it got jostled in shipping and broke off something.

Yeah are you sure it's bent? More likely it's broken free from it's mounting plate due to being knocked around a bit in transit. For this very reason a lot of companies won't ship coolers like this installed, they prefer AIO water coolers or to send the cooler for you to add yourself.

Fault of chillblast if it was already put together. But if you contact them they might try to say that it was caused by "your improper use" so to say but I would try to contact them and see if they will replace it. Or as long as the fins aren't bent bad and the pipes are not broken it should still preform basically the same.

No it's not normal . I own 2 should be perfectly straight.

Send back right away , don't use damaged parts.

What was the cost of it you should be able to build one for a bit less and maybe even better then cooler and other parts have better chance not being damaged. Of corse that is if you can or want to get your money back

£2000, yeh I wouldnt mind building myself, im just very busy with work etc... This is my first ever pc (normally use laptops) and i spent months researching before i bought it,.

Dropped /Slid during shipping. Large part like that with what is a relatively weak fulcrum point; whether it was a slam to the ground or slid against the back of the box of a delivery van this is likely the cause. Other than those bent fins, that is a little confusing unless you can see a reason they could have been bent from impact. Either way, run.

Hello,

I’m extremely sorry for the condition your new PC has arrived in! Every PC we build is checked by two different people prior to dispatch to ensure that everything is installed and fitted properly, and that the cosmetic condition is perfect. Unfortunately the Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler is quite a fragile unit, and we’ve seen that if the courier company doesn’t handle the box very well during the delivery the two parts of the heatsink can end up leaning over due to their weight. This is because Noctua use copper heatpipes to support the rest of the cooler, and these heatpipes are fairly soft and easy to bend. The damage you’re seeing is therefore cosmetic (the CPU cooler will still work fine, and in fact it’s easy to bend the two sections of the heatsink back into an upright position), but it is very disappointing to see it.



If you do not want to try turning on the computer with the Noctua in its current condition (and we completely understand if you don’t), I can either arrange to have this computer collected from you so that we can replace the cooler and check all other components as quickly as we can, or we can have a replacement computer built for you and delivered to you at the same time as this one is taken away. We can also offer to pack the computer internally around the Noctua to prevent any repeat damage, although this type of problem is very rare.
